Create a damn Beautiful desktop

How to Create a damn Beautiful desktop like mine

In this article I'll show you how to get the perfect desktop setup in linux, specifically elementary os.

Get that OS / desktop environment

Yeah If You got to make your desktop every single damn pixel same as me then you need that DE. And that's called Pantheon the elementary OS's default DE (Well DE is desktop environment). How do you get that??
Well if you want it best install eOS.

Or if you can't leave your current Linux Distro Just Get the pantheon DE.
Warning :- Pantheon might show some quirks with other distros.
  • Open Terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T)
  • Add repository (Use this repository at your own risk!

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementary-os/daily

  • Update and install

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install elementary-desktop
After completed installation log out and chose session called Pantheon in LightDM.

Get the Elementary tweaks

You would extremely like to install the elementary tweaks so as to configure a few niches yourself therefore here it is : -

Open your Terminal [CTRL]-[ALT]-[T] and copy/paste or type:

 sudo apt-add-repository ppa:versable/elementary-update

 sudo apt-get update

 sudo apt-get install elementary-tweaks

Once installed, navigate to :
Applications > System Settings > Tweaks  to access it

A deliberate design feature of elementary OS is the fact there is no minimize button on the window controls. elementary tweaks allows you to add one by selecting “Windows” for Button Layout drop down.

Get that Wallpaper

This is the super easy step Just save the wppr given below ;p

Get that dock

Well this might be a little work if you want a more configurable dock than the default plank that ships with the eOS. You might skillfully skip this section if you don't need docky.

  1. Install docky from the Software Center (or from the Docky PPA).
  2. In System Settings, open Tweaks, then click Cerbere (under Applications).
  3. Click the plank entry in the Watched Processes list, then click the minus sign at the bottom of the panel to remove the entry.
  4. Now click the plus sign; in the popup that appears, type docky and click the green plus sign to add docky to the list.
  5. Still in System Settings, click All Setings to return to the main settings window.
  6. Click Applications.
  7. In the Applications window, click Startup to bring up your list of startup applications.
  8. Click the plus sign and select Docky from the list. (Note: If plank is in the startup list, be sure to remove it.)
  9. Log out (or restart), log in, and enjoy your new dock.

Get that Icon theme

Well I used the ever beautiful Numix Circle Icon theme that looks completely

ROUND

To install it paste these commands in your terminal line by line one at a time.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:numix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install numix-icon-theme-circle

Get that conky

Yep that little clock you saw out there runs on a program called Conky. Just like cli rain-meter.;-)
And that conky's designed by me.

Lighttable - the text editor of future

Lighttable

That's a new kid on the block!

Dynamic? Yeah!

I previously recommended a lot of people to use sublime text 3 as their default text editor but now I seem to change my favorites with this out of future text editor. I know subtext has a lots of plug-ins is fast and darn beautiful but it doesn't match with Lighttable.

Light table's got lots of features that make it stand high. Its not made for a single or a specific group of languages as is Brackets (by Adobe for web dev) and therefore comes handy in a lot of different stuffs.

Its also for multiple OSes including that dumb Windows and that sleek MacOSX and the greatest Linux!!

For people using linux this installation guide will come handy - http://j.mp/1KNEEwm

Distros For Complete Linux Beginners

Hey every one Welcome.
In this Post I discus Some of the best Linux Distros For beginners. I have Included those distros which are either easy to use or highly supported.

Ubuntu

This distro is currently the most popular in the world of Linux and many distros in this article are based on Ubuntu. Ubuntu features nice hardware compatibility and easy to use unity interface. Those who begin with this will later find it powerful underneath its sleek look. Unity is its make AND break point. Unity is extremely good for beginners but those who use it for a while and want to achieve more power or customisablity will feel blocked.

Linux Mint

This is a great distro who don't feel well with the modern look of various distros (Gnome Shell)  For An example. It is based on Ubuntu and offers everything where the other lacks on. Multimedia plug ins to customizable interface Its got it all.

Deepin

A Distro with fairly new look and feel which is nice and refreshing. Its based on Ubuntu and Looks amazing in its DDE (Deepin Desktop Environment). Its DDE is designed with HTML5 and is extremely customizable. Includes Chrome and Kingsoft office preinstalled. Its installation is more easiest and Quickest.
